What happened to Hummingbird?
Hummingbird was a Canadian company founded in 1984. It became known on the IT market for its flagship Exceed product which became the industry leading PC X Server. Eventually, the company evolved into a strong player in the connectivity market. In 1999, it diversified its activities by entering the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) market. On July 5th 2006, Open Text announced that their intention to purchase all the common share of Hummingbird Ltd and the transaction was completed on October 2nd 2006.

Today, the former Connectivity business of Hummingbird is a proud member of the Open Text family and market the same world-class Connectivity software under the "Open Text Connectivity Solutions Group" umbrella.
